Entry#EC Food Inc.

Image
Hello! man oh man watching the film "Food Inc" was quite interesting. Disturbing at times, and frustrating, it saddens me to know that major companies don't care about the consumers of the food and the poor animals. Some food companies shown were the ones I grew up on like " Tyson" the chemicals that these chickens go through just to be grown in a few days rather than the average time they grow is truly sad. It took a lot for me to finish this movie but really opened my eyes to these major companies that are exposing people and farmers to such strong chemicals and belittles them from their jobs.               The government protecting these companies truly does show how messed up out system really is. They would rather protect the companies than the people and lives these companies are effecting. I don't like the idea of the food I am consuming on a daily basis is being "engineered" by other people tha...

Entry#9 The sad truth...

Image
For the past few weeks I have been learning about the food industry and all its glory. For this blog I will be showing you a few comic strips that I found really funny and explaining the message behind each one. Each comic is food related and after viewing a few of them it really does reflect today's society and how much control we do or do not have when it comes to food.            I had to share this one to a few of my friends and family members as I related to it so much! Did you relate to it as well? This comic shows how much self control most of us DON'T have. How we can't see this donut sitting on the table...that it has to be eaten now! Although the man in this comic does have some self control and is willing to eat it later the lady doesn't and she knows the moment he walks away its just her and that yummy donut...and just like the comic say " we both know how this ends."               This ...

Entry#8 Caffeine with ADHD?

Image
Hello everyone! For today's topic I decided to write about caffeine and how it can actually be helpful to kids with ADHD. This all came about when I was at work, as I mentioned before I work at a school with kids from grades K-8, recently I had a kid come into class with a Monster energy drink. At first I was in complete shock, I do have a big love for coffee but energy drinks scare me for some reason and seeing this 12 year old boy walking in with a big can of Monster really started to concern me a bit. I had asked him how he could drink something with a big amount of caffeine, He explains to me how the energy drink actually does the opposite effect on him because of his ADHD. I found that quite interesting and started to look into it a bit more.   After reading a bit more into it, caffeine stimulates our nervous systems and boots dopamine which helps our bodies with movement, attention, and focus. People with ADHD already take simulant med...

Entry #7 Fresh!

Image
Hello everyone! After seeing the documentary "Fresh" it raised up a lot of questions; I mean have you ever just been sitting in your car eating outside your favorite fast-food chain and wondered..." How "real" is my food?' or " What am I really eating?". Well, once I finished watching this documentary it definitely opened my eyes to the world of food.             This documentary shows people the difference in organic and industrialized farming and what is truly happening in the world of farming. Fresh shows farmers, thinkers, and business people all over America who are re-inventing our food chain system.         At first I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into. After finishing up this film, it was very upsetting seeing how the animals were getting treated in some farming industries. I had moments where I needed to pause or skip a little ahead because my heart couldn't take it. Something the...
